I had no idea what this goddess shoot would initiate for me in my life. It was 12-12, The Day of The Goddess. As I was preparing to go on this beautiful journey with Marsha, I remember feeling self-conscious about all of the jewelry that I bought, and hesitant as I asked myself, “Is wearing all of this too gaudy?”
I laughed out loud as The Divine Feminine aspect of The Great Goddess herself spoke to me “You ARE a Goddess! This is a Goddess shoot, that is exactly what it is supposed to be, over the top! Adorn yourself completely however you wish.”
From that moment on, I was guided by my intuition to ask myself every moment...
- How would a Goddess treat herself right now? As if she were Royalty.
- How would she feed herself? Organically.
- How would she experience the material realm? She would create abundantly, whatever she desired.
- Who would she allow inside of her temple? Men who were righteous, trustworthy and honored her completely.
- Who would she surround herself with? People who know their worth, because she does too.
As I began to honor myself in this way it transformed my reality for eternity. I've been a thousand different women since the day these photographs were made, some worse than others. Yet, I have remembered the truth of who I am-a Child Of The Divine, a Creatrix whose birthright is abundance, truth, beauty and joy. A conduit of Pure Creation. An embodiment of Love.

The Hostage Project~Where it all began...
A Photo Essay on What Holds Women Hostage, and How They Break Free
In 2015, I asked women one question: What in your life do you feel holds you hostage, or prevents you from prospering?
The answers poured out. Raw. Unfiltered. Some had never said these things out loud before. I took those words and, alongside my friend and model Layla Fields Dyke, spent the next year turning them into photographs. Twelve images. Twelve women's truths (some of them mine), made visible.
The Hostage Project began as my response to surviving twenty years of domestic abuse. But as I photographed Layla, chained by rope, wrapped in tape, curled inside an antique trunk, I discovered something I couldn't unsee. The women who struggled most to be seen weren't lacking confidence or willpower. They were lacking safety. Their nervous systems had learned, the way mine had, that being witnessed was dangerous.
That discovery changed everything. It's the reason I no longer just photograph women. I coach their nervous systems back into a place where being seen finally feels safe again. It's the foundation of the method I now call Transcend With Art.
Every photograph in this book shows a woman bound in some way, but with a way of escape. That was intentional. No matter how tangled the story, there is always a way through it. You just have to know where to look.
This is not a portfolio piece. It's the origin story of everything I now believe about art, healing, and visibility. And I'm giving it to you for free.

As you move through each image and each woman's words, I want you to ask yourself the same question I asked Layla and every woman who trusted me with her story: What holds you hostage? And what would it feel like to finally set it down?

I Know What It Means to Disappear
I was raised by a mother who was too afraid to dream. A woman who worked herself to the bone, gave everything she had, and never once believed she deserved more. That was the first thing I was taught about being a woman: shrink, sacrifice, and stay silent.
Then I spent 20 years in a physically, emotionally, and mentally abusive marriage that perfected the lesson. I became invisible. Not because I was weak, but because invisible felt safe.
I understand deeply why women shrink. Why they stay silent. Why they abandon their own dreams before they ever give them a chance. I lived it. I survived it. And now I've made it my mission to make sure you don't stay there.
The Woman on the Other Side
Getting out wasn't the end of the story. It was the beginning of one I had to learn to write from scratch. One where I got to take up space, have a voice, and believe I was worthy of being seen.
That journey led me to create The Hostage Project, an acclaimed fine art photo essay examining what holds women back from fully living and prospering. What began as a way to shed light on domestic violence became something far greater. It healed me, and it healed every woman who was part of its creation.
It also showed me something I couldn't unsee: that the women who struggle most to be visible aren't lacking confidence or strategy. They're lacking safety. Their nervous system learned, just like mine did, that being seen was dangerous. No amount of mindset work or marketing advice can override that. Not until you heal it at the root.
That's where I come in.
What I Do
I walk alongside women through a six-month transformational coaching journey, one that goes far beneath the surface to address the real reason you've been hiding. Together we untangle the stories you were given, rebuild your relationship with being witnessed, and help you step into the version of yourself that was always there, waiting to be seen.
And when you're ready, when you've done the work and become someone new, we celebrate her.
We celebrate her with a fine art portrait experience that lets the whole world finally see you, but more importantly-witness yourself. Not a photoshoot. A proclamation. A declaration that says: I am here. I am worthy. I am no longer invisible.
Why Me
I'm not a coach who learned this from a textbook. I lived the invisibility. I know what it costs. And I know what it feels like to finally stand in the light and let yourself be seen. Fully, unapologetically, and without shrinking.
With over two decades of experience as a fine art portrait artist, photographer, and empowerment advocate, and as the founder of Freedom Dreamer Photography and Lane Foster Fine Art, I have built my entire life and career around one thing: helping women reclaim their right to exist boldly.
Your story isn't over. The most visible chapter may be the one you haven't written yet.
